At the Gyuto Monastery I was able to have our tour guide write in my sketchbook using a Tibetan script to label my sketch of the monastery. He also wrote my name a few different scripts. It turns out that there is an upper script, a lower script, and a cursive-like script. Tibetan scripts were derived from sanskrit just like devanagari was. One way to see that is to look for the horizontal line that each letter appears to hang from in each script.
