Taj Mahal Arch

May 31st – Agra

On the way to Agra to see the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort I was not expecting to see straw huts on farmland. It was also interesting to see that there were so many abandoned construction sites. There were several tall buildings with cranes next to them, but they didn’t seem to be working on them anymore. It just looked like they started but never finished and left the project as is.

The main structures of the Taj Mahal are large domes on the top. It is interesting to compare those to the dome shaped roofs on the grass huts that we saw.

The arches on each side of the Taj Mahal had an inlaid stone script.
